SLOVAKIA will forgive Iraq its debt amounting to Sk35.2 million (€900,000), the cabinet decided June 21, in connection with an International Conference on Iraq in Brussels, news wire TASR wrote.
Slovakia will be represented at the conference by Foreign Affairs Minister Eduard Kukan. Forgiveness of debt is a "token of the willingness to help Iraq build a free democratic society," Kukan said.
The conference, attended by EU members, the USA, and the UN is being held thanks to the new Iraqi government. The talks will mainly focus on the post-Saddam transformation of Iraq.
