The Slovak national ice-hockey team beat Canada twice in friendly international matches on November 7 and 8. The first match, played in northern Slovakia's Liptovský Mikuláš, saw the home side prevail 3 to 2 in a fast-paced game which entertained the 4,500 spectators at the sold-out stadium.

Game two of the series was played in the western Slovak city of Trenčin before another sold-out crowd of 4,500. Slovakia won again, this time 4 to 1, behind the strong play of Richard Sechny, who in the two matches scored three goals, assisted on another and was selected player of the game after both games.
