Slovakia’s Public Procurement Office ordered the Defence Ministry to cancel its public tender to select a supplier of socks for the Armed Forces, the office’s spokesperson, Helena Fialová, told the SITA newswire on June 2.
The ADVERTA Slovakia company based in Šurany appealed the result of the evaluation of the bids. “It stated that the bid of the winning participant contains an unusually low price and in line with terms which the procurer determined in tender dossiers, it is not possible to supply the subject of the order at the price per item which the successful contestant listed in its bid,” explained the Public Procurement Office’s spokesperson.
The office examined the presented materials from the tender and found out that the commission evaluating the bids at the ministry did not pay attention to a proper examination of whether the offered price is realistic. The office also revealed other shortcomings in the tender. The daily Sme wrote about the tender for the purchase of 925,000 pairs of socks for the Army after two of the three companies that took part in the tender complained
about the ministry’s practices.
