7 Jul 2010 Flash News
The Christian-Democratic Movement (KDH) has made public its nominees for the next Slovak government, which will be led by Iveta Radičová of the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ).
The KDH leadership confirmed on July 6 that KDH chairman Ján Figeľ will be minister of transport, tourism and regional development, an enlarged department which will also oversee the distribution of EU funds. Party deputy chairman Daniel Lipšic will be the new interior minister. The Health Ministry will be led by KDH deputy chairman Ivan Uhliarik.
State secretary – i.e. deputy ministry – at the Transport Ministry is to be former MEP Ján Hudacký, while physician Ján Porubský, chairman of the Union of Christian Doctors and Health-care Workers, will take up the state secretary post at the Health Ministry. Figeľ told the SITA newswire that the nomination of the Interior Ministry state secretary has yet to be approved.
The party’s former leader – now its deputy chairman – Pavol Hrušovský was nominated as deputy speaker of parliament and will also lead the KDH parliamentary caucus. The KDH also has the right to name the head of the Parliamentary Constitutional and Judicial Committee; this will be Radoslav Procházka, while the Social Affairs Committee will be chaired by Július Brocka. Mária Sabolová will chair the Environment Committee.
