The Slovak economy continued to grow in the second quarter of this year at a relatively healthy pace, the SITA newswire wrote.

According to data from the Slovak Statistics Office, the country's GDP increased 4.7 percent year-on-year in real terms in the second quarter of 2010, which is only a small slowdown compared with a 4.8-percent growth in the first quarter.

The Statistics Office revised its mid-August flash estimate of the GDP growth in the second quarter up by 0.1 percentage point.

SITA quoted the Statistics Office as stating that overall GDP formed in the second quarter totalled €16.355 billion which represents y-o-y growth of 4.9 percent in current prices while in the first three months the Slovak economy grew 2.8 percent. GDP formed in the first half of this year totalled €31.428 billion.
