Radičová to head Slovak delegation at EU energy summit

Prime Minister Iveta Radičová will head the Slovak delegation to an EU summit devoted to energy and innovation due to take place in Brussels on Friday, February 4, the government agreed at its session on Wednesday, February 2.

European leaders will focus on agreeing guidelines for improving the European energy market, the TASR newswire wrote. In this context, the EC’s Energy 2020 strategy unveiled in November 2010 is due to occupy a prominent place. The strategy addresses competitive, sustainable and secure energy, and also deals with strengthening the position of consumers.

Also on the agenda, the European Council is set to discuss fostering Europe’s innovation potential. Guidelines affecting the European Research Area and facilitating access to funding in the sphere of innovation will also be addressed.
