The prices of consumer goods and services in Slovakia measured by EU methodology increased 3.2 percent year-on-year in January 2011, the Statistics Office announced on February 28, the TASR newswire reported.
Inflation accelerated by 1.9 percentage points compared to the figure recorded in December 2010 and inflation measured according to national methodology was slightly lower, at 3 percent y-o-y in January, TASR wrote.
Prices grew especially due to food and non-alcoholic drinks which rose by 6.1 percent y-o-y. Consumers also paid 5.8 percent more for housing, water, electricity and fuels.
