The average monthly salary in Slovakia grew by 3.2 percent year-on-year in 2010 to reach €769, according to information published by the Statistics Office on Thursday, March 3.
The highest average monthly salary was reported in the field of information and telecommunications activities, at €1,450, followed by financial and insurance activities (€1,425), and electricity and gas supplies (€1,268). Conversely, the lowest average salaries were paid to employees working in accommodation and restaurant services (€503), construction (€579), and agriculture (€581). "The average nominal monthly salary of employees [in 2010] was higher in all Slovak regions than in 2009," said the Statistics Office, as quoted by the TASR newswire.
Salaries in Banská Bystrica Region increased most significantly (by 5 percent y-o-y), followed by those in Košice Region (by 4.7 percent).
