ALMOST 13,000 residents of Bratislava have shown an interest in acquiring a Bratislava City Card since January 15, when three partner banks started issuing the card to customers who request one.
The card, available to persons with permanent residence in Bratislava, can be used for domestic and international payments, as a library card and as an electronic ticket for city galleries and museums.
The card can also be used to purchase pre-paid tickets for city transport along with a 10-percent discount.
When visiting cultural attractions and other venues operated by the city, such as Bratislava Zoo, the city’s art gallery and museum, and the Pasienky indoor swimming pool or summertime outdoor pools, the Bratislava City Card will bring a 20-percent discount off regular prices.
Almost 2,700 card holders have activated their card to serve as a pre-paid city transport ticket, Bratislava Mayor Milan Ftáčnik said, as reported by the TASR newswire.
The banks currently involved in the project are VÚB Bank, OTP Bank, UniCredit Bank Slovensko and Volksbank Slovensko, which joined on March 1. Of these only UniCredit issues cards to Bratislavans who do not already hold a bank account with it.
Poštová Banka and Slovenská Sporiteľňa are expected to join the programme some time in 2011.
