Kia Slovakia has new president

ON JANUARY 1, Myung-Chul Chung was appointed president and CEO of Kia Motors Slovakia, which produces cars at its plant in Teplička nad Váhom, near Žilina. He replaced In-Kyu Bae, the first president of Kia Motors Slovakia, who has left Slovakia after more than six years to continue his professional career within Hyundai Kia Automotive Group in the Republic of Korea, Kia Motors Slovakia announced.

He replaced In-Kyu Bae, the first president of Kia Motors Slovakia, who has left Slovakia after more than six years to continue his professional career within Hyundai Kia Automotive Group in the Republic of Korea, Kia Motors Slovakia announced.

Chung has been working at Kia Motors Slovakia since 2005, when he was appointed the head of the purchasing and procurement group at the plant. Together with his colleagues he participated in the establishment of the first Kia production facility in Europe.

“I have been with Kia Motors Slovakia since its beginning, so I know the company very well,” he said. “I will continue the traditions and promote the strengths of our company to its further development.”

Kia Motors Slovakia is the first assembly plant of Kia Motors Corporation in Europe. The plant was built between 2004 and 2006, and production of vehicles as well as engines for passenger cars started in December 2006. Kia employs over 2,900 people in Slovakia.
