A NEW charging station for electric vehicles opened in Bratislava at the building of the Economy Ministry on May 31. The following day Minister Juraj Miškov started using an electric car himself, the SITA newswire reported.
The ministry’s charging station is the first public charging station in Bratislava and until the end of 2011 anyone can use it to recharge electric vehicles free of charge, according to SITA.
The first charging station in Slovakia for electric cars opened in late 2010 in Košice, SITA wrote.
The Economy Ministry stated that electric cars do not represent competition for traditional vehicles since they can only be used for shorter journeys of up to 150 kilometres.
