Slovakia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Mikuláš Dzurinda, is taking part in the tenth session of the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) on June 6 in Budapest, the TASR newswire reported.
The main topic of this year's meeting will be cooperation on tackling non-traditional security challenges. The ministers will also discuss the issues of nuclear and energy security, food safety, regional topics, and cooperation in dealing with natural disasters. ASEM covers 16 Asian states, the 27 EU member states, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Office and the European Commission.
Before the ASEM session, a meeting of the foreign affairs ministers of the Visegrad Four countries (Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland) and Japan will be held. Mutual co-operation among the countries will be assessed, especially in the fields of politics, trade and commerce, and technology.
