The information and communication technologies (ICT) sector recorded the biggest year-on-year rise in average nominal salaries in April, with an increase of 10.4 percent, the Statistics Office announced on June 10. Employees in wholesale, restaurants and pubs were the only group posting an annual drop in nominal salaries, by 0.3 percent, the TASR newswire reported.
The information and communication technologies sector also posted a year-on-year hike in real salaries in April, by 6.5 percent. All other sectors recorded a drop in real salaries, most notably in wholesale, restaurants and pubs (by 3.9 percent).
The average nominal monthly salary in ICT was at a level of €1,634 while restaurants and pubs were at the bottom of the list, with an average nominal salary of €358 per month.
