THE FACULTY of Philosophy of Comenius University will celebrate the 90th anniversary of its founding this October.

THE FACULTY of Philosophy of Comenius University will celebrate the 90th anniversary of its founding this October.

The two-day celebration will include an exhibition explaining the founding of the faculty, lectures on the history of university education in Slovakia and the role of this particular faculty in Slovak science and culture.

The faculty will also unveil a new book comparing its present to its past.

The Faculty of Philosophy at Comenius University currently offers approximately 60 programmes with bachelors and master’s degrees in social sciences, humanities, art sciences and philology with 2,200 active students.

The most popular study programmes offered by the faculty include psychology, marketing communication, political science, journalism and translation and interpreting programmes, mainly in English, Spanish and Portuguese. In the coming academic year 2011/2012, the faculty will begin a new programme within the interpreting and translation division on Finnish language and culture. In the years to come, the faculty also plans to introduce new study programmes on central European studies and Korean studies.
