HZDS to present its top candidate for 2014 parliamentary election in November

The head of the candidate list of the non-parliamentary Movement for Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) party for the parliamentary election in 2014 will be announced this November, HZDS chief secretary Ivana Kapráliková told the TASR newswire on July 16. The party hopes that a new election leader, replacing Vladimír Mečiar, will help HZDS return to parliament after the party failed to reach the 5-percent threshold in 2010.

The party hopes that a new election leader, replacing Vladimír Mečiar, will help HZDS return to parliament after the party failed to reach the 5-percent threshold in 2010.

It is unlikely that Vladimír Mečiar will give up his post of party chairman even though Kapráliková claimed that he is not untouchable. She said the party is not considering replacing the party head at the moment as Mečiar is still active.
