Police President Spišiak to be fined €120 for speeding

Police Corps President Jaroslav Spišiak will receive a €120 fine for speeding while the fine will be deducted from the Police Corps president's salary in line with the table of fines for such a misdemeanour, spokesman of the Interior Ministry Gábor Grendel told TASR.

Spišiak recently exceeded the permitted speed limit by more than 30 km/h on the road between Bajč and Pribeta in Nitra region. According news-only television channel TA3, which broke the news, he did so because he was rushing to help his parents who had problems with their roof due to strong winds.

The police president apologised for his misdemeanour and promised a commendation for the police officers who caught him speeding.

"This was my greatest failure ever," he said according to TASR.
