The biggest event for young Roman Catholics – the traditional World Youth Day – will be held in Madrid this year and 2,500 young Slovaks plan to attend, joined by around 2 million others from around 170 countries in the period from August 16 to 21, the TASR newswire reported.
"Two bishops, Tomáš Galis and Peter Rusnák, will go with us [the Slovak group]," said Andrej Darmo from the Slovak organisation team at a press conference on August 8, as quoted by TASR newswire, adding that this is the most important event for young Catholics called by the Pope once every two or three years and always taking place in a different city on a different continent.
The aim of the event is to maintain a dialogue about the future, look for the meaning of life and values, and engage in multicultural exchanges and friendship, TASR wrote.
