The latest concert by Szidi Tobias, a popular and talented Slovak actress who also sings, is marked by tracks from her most recent album Pod obojím / In Both Ways, which was released last year. Her intimate songs resemble a photo-album that evokes memories and past feelings. She will sing at Atelier Babylon (former the West Theatre) in SNP Square 14 on August 15, at 19:00. Ingrid Višňovská - Neznesiteľná ľahkosť bytia / The Unbearable Lightness of Being – This young Slovak artist has been oriented towards space installations since the beginnings of her creative work. Accustomed to working with new elements like light, laser, UV radiation and sound, Višňovská has made a site-specific installation for the Galéria mladých room at the Nitra Gallery.

EXHIBITION:Renowned Slovak artist Rudolf Fila is currently exhibiting his works at the Galéria u anjela / At the Angel Gallery in Kežmarok as part of the Dialógy_011 art festival. Fila has a clearly identifiable style which often focuses on the female body or reflections on the art of painting. Festival Cap á l’Est – The 9th year of this cultural festival will have Hungary as the main guest, welcoming the Ritka Magyar Banda folklore ensemble for the opening, bi-lingual actors Viki Ráková and Peter Nádasdi, debates with Hungarian (and other) poets, and activities include reading of Imre Madách’s works, a piano concert by Adelaide Panaget, an African music performance by Babyluzaru, learning French in a playful way, an exhibition of works by Pierre Dubrunquez, and more.

VII. Návrat do histórie v Srňacom / 7th Return to History in Srňacie – An event that aims to bring the history of this region and its cultural traditions to the wider public. The small village, lying seven kilometres outside Dolný Kubín, has preserved its wooden architecture and beautiful surroundings, as well as a tradition of ancient crafts. Bažant Kinematograf 2011 / The Bažant “Cinemas on Wheels” 2011 – The idea of a bus travelling around Slovakia and screening mainly Czech, Slovak and independent films has entered its 8th year. Two vintage Škoda RTO buses represent a “travelling open-air cinema” that visits around 30 cities and towns throughout summer, luring thousands of viewers.
