Speaker of Parliament Richard Sulík has expressed his displeasure over the ongoing controversy over the rental of a building in Košice by the Tax Directorate. He conveyed his feelings in response to a statement by the leader of the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ), Mikuláš Dzurinda, who said that the procurement process had been absolutely transparent, the TASR newswire reported.

“It is a shame that the coalition is supplying Robert Fico with ammunition for his assaults against Prime Minister Iveta Radičová,” Sulík said, as quoted by the Sme daily.

Based on Dzurinda’s statement the opposition, led by Fico’s Smer party, plans to initiate a non-confidence vote to remove Radičová.

The head of the parliamentary caucus of coalition party Most-Hid, László Solymos, echoed Sulík’s comments and pointed to “consequences that the entire coalition is enduring”, the TASR wrote. Pavol Abrhan, an MP for another governing party, the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH), said only that the issue pertains to the SDKÚ and that he is not well-versed on what the case involves.
