From 22nd to 27th June the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava holds the International festival of theatre schools – Istropolitana Project, which will take place in five theatres in Bratislava: Theatre Lab at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Astorka Korzo’90, Studio SND, Malá scéna STU and City Theatre of Pavol Orszagh Hviezdoslav.
The festival brought to Slovakia more than 84 performances from various countries of the world. Theatre schools from Czech republic, Poland, Hungary, but also from Austria, Great Britain, Germany and the USA attend regularly. We also welcomed schools from Slovenia, Indonesia, Iran, Finland, Lithuania, China and many others. Istropolitana Project launched a successful career of some famous artists, such as Buz Luhrmann (director of movies Moulin Roughe, Romeo and Juliet) and Barbora Bobuľová (actress in Italy, Theatre Faculty graduate).
As every year, we have prepared several interesting surprises. In six days you will see 22 performances from 17 countries. In the main competitive programme you can look forward to productions of E. Ionesco Lesson, which will be presented by students from Moldova, play Three Brothers by P. Gvozdić from Croatian school, French students will present a play by M. Cuppelari Longing, awaited performance BomBomBom by B. Schulz made by school from Indonesia. There is also going to be the Threepenny Opera by B. Brecht, brought by students from Poland and Spanish adaptation of S. Beckett’s play The Endgame. The last day of festival offers one-act play by A.P. Chekhov, which will be presented by actors from Iran. Besides the mentioned performances, the programme also includes performances by theatre schools from Slovakia, Czech republic, Great Britain, Lithuania, Romania, Macedonia, Bulgaria and France.
Competitive performances are judged by international jury and international student jury. We will also present the Audience award.
Besides the main competitive programme, we have also prepared an accompanying programme, which will include the newest productions from Slovak students of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. It also includes workshops and theatrical discussions.
New element of this year is VSMU stage, which will be placed on Hviezdoslavovo square. This place will offer various presentations of participants, who will show us their culture and traditions, talkshow with former students of the Academy of Performing Arts and many musical performances.
