Krnáč likely to become NKÚ chairman
18 Jul 2012 Flash News
Only one person – former Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MP Kamil Krnáč – will run for the post of Supreme Audit Office (NKÚ) chairman, as the deadline for submitting candidacies expired on Monday, the TASR newswire reported.
Krnáč is expected to be elected, after Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that his governing Smer party would back a joint candidate from the five opposition parties. All the opposition parties have expressed support for Krnáč. If actually elected, Krnáč will replace Ján Jasovský (HZDS), who is currently serving several extra months as head of the NKÚ following the expiry of his seven-year term in office in February.
