SDKÚ proposes €500 licenses for self-employed individuals
24 Jul 2012 Flash News
The opposition Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) has proposed that the state issue special licenses for self-employed individuals as of January 1, 2013, the party's chairman Pavol Frešo and vice-chair Ivan Štefanec announced at a press conference on July 23, as reported by the TASR newswire.
"We also see a chance for state incomes to be increased and for us to consolidate," stated Frešo. The SDKÚ officials said there are cases in which self-employed persons pay several times more for an accountant than they pay in taxes, saying that if a self-employed person pays for a license this will free them from accounting restraints.
The Finance Ministry reacted that the proposed legislation would take funds from state tax revenues, in contrast to what SDKÚ envisages. The ministry has requested SDKÚ to add specifics on the impact of the proposed measure and urged the party to calculate the effect on the state budget for several years.
