Foreign Minister Lajčák starts official visit to the USA

Slovakia's Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák is visiting the United States this week following an invitation from US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the ministry's press department told the TASR newswire on July 23. During his three-day visit to Washington on July 24-26 Lajčák will meet Clinton as well as senior officials from the US State Department and the Department of Defense. Meetings with representatives of the National Security Council and members of Congress as well as a speech at the US Institute of Peace are also on Lajčák's agenda. In his talks with the US officials, Lajčák is expected to discuss current political issues, especially the situation in the Middle East, Syria and Iran. Joint activities within ISAF mission in Afghanistan, issues pertaining to the Western Balkans as well as to countries within the Eastern Partnership and the Southern Neighbourhood will also be discussed.
