Ground forces of Slovakia's armed forces have a new commander
11 Sep 2012 Flash News
Brigadier General Ondřej Novosad is the ground forces' new commander of the Slovak Armed Forces as of September 15. He is replacing Major General Ján Salagič, who handed over the post to his successor at a ceremony on Monday, September 10, at the Trenčín garrison, in the presence of Defence Minister Martin Glváč and the Chief-of-staff of the Slovak Armed Forces Lieutenant General Peter Vojtek.
So far, General Nvosad was deputy commander of the ground forces. The new commander is preparing no major changes. The departing ground forces’ commander thinks he did a good job over the two years when under him they helped to secure the operation in Afghanistan while ground forces also assisted when Slovakia was hit by flooding and landslides. The new commander takes over as part of a regular two year rotation. Minister Glváč informed the SITA newswire that they are preparing an exchange in the post of air force commander on Tuesday.
