Rimavská Sobota to get new oil refinery
12 Sep 2012 Flash News
The mayor of the southern Slovak town of Rimavská Sobota, Jozef Šimko, and representatives of the firm Oil Production and Trade OPT Sk have signed an agreement on construction of a new plant for oil processing. The company's investment might reach $1 billion. The construction of the plant, which will produce polymers, should be finished in 2.5 years and provide jobs for about 500 people, the SITA newswire reported.
It is an historic event for the town, Šimko told a press conference held on September 11. The contractors agreed that the town would provide 32 hectares of public land for €1. If construction does not begin, the company will have to return the land.
The chairman of Oil Production and Trade OPT Sk, Ján Tehlár, said that construction might start next spring since his firm has to prepare project documentation, get all the necessary permits, and order technical equipment for the new plant, SITA wrote.
