Sales of paper producers in Slovakia rose
25 Sep 2012 Flash News
Overall sales of ten companies clustered in the Slovak Pulp and Paper Industry Association (ZCPP) went up 9 percent in year-on-year terms to €459.548 million as of the end of June.
As ZCPP Secretary General Juraj Dlhopolček told the SITA newswire on Monday, September 24, the industry sees a continuous growth of costs, which swelled 8 percent in yearly terms, on a 4.8 percent drop in consumption of wood and a 15.9-percent drop in consumption of recycled paper.
"Sales prices are not appropriate," Dlhopolcek commented on the achieved results. The companies produced over 381,000 tons of paper and cardboard in the monitored period, which is approximately the same volume as a year ago. The production of graphic paper stagnated, or even slightly dropped. The development varied in the production of sanitary products.
As of late June, the companies employed a total of 2,842 people with an average monthly wage of €1,164. Together, they invested €11.523 million which was 42.3 percent of capital investments in the first half of 2011. The companies processed 1.3 million cubic meters of pulp, and recycled 31,000 tons of waste paper. Imports exceeded 10,300 tons. The pulp and paper industry is among the most efficient sectors of the Slovak economy. The ten companies clustered in ZCPP cover 100 percent of the production of tissue and paper in Slovakia with a high portion of production of goods in the sector. The largest producers clustered in the association are Mondi SCP, a.s., Ružomberok, Bukóza Holding, a.s., Hencovce, SHP Harmanec, a.s, Harmanec and Metsa Tissue Slovakia, s.r.o., Žilina.
