Woman injured in Ružinov fire still in critical condition

A week after an apartment building on Nezábudková Street in the Bratislava borough of Ružinov caught on fire, a woman who sustained the most serious injuries is still listed in critical condition. Two other victims also remained hospitalised as of Tuesday, October 16, spokesperson of the University Hospital in Bratislava, Petra Stano Maťašovská informed the SITA newswire.
The woman, aged 26, jumped out of a 5th-floor flat after a fire broke out on October 9 in a flat on the ground floor. A man who was in the ground floor flat, aged 84, remains in hospital, but his condition is reported as stable due to the nature of his injuries. The third victim, a man aged 81, was hospitalised after inhaling smoke, but his condition is now stable. The woman suffered numerous injuries and her condition remains critical. Doctors are being cautious with any predictions regarding her recovery.
From the fire-stricken building, six people were brought to hospital, but one woman was released that same day and two others by the end of last week.
The fire was reported on October 9 shortly before 6:00, with flames blazing from the flat on the ground floor which filled the upper floors with smoke. Five fire-trucks were deployed, and 23 inhabitants were evacuated.
