Volkswagen considering producing hybrids in Bratislava
24 Oct 2012 Flash News
German carmaker Volkswagen is considering producing modern ecological plug-in hybrid cars in Bratislava, the Hospodárske noviny daily wrote in its Wednesday, October 24, issue.
Member of VW Board of Directors Michael Macht told the daily at an international car fair in Brazil that if they decide to go ahead with the plan, the production of these cars in Bratislava will begin in 2014 at the latest. The investment would create hundreds of new jobs in Slovakia. VW vice-president Rudolf Krebs also confirmed for the HN daily that Bratislava is a favourite for the new investment, adding that luxury SUVs the Audi Q7, the Porsche Cayenne and the Volkswagen Touareg could also be adapted for the new plug-in technology. The value of the investment has not been specified yet, but it should be somewhere around dozens of millions of euros.
