If a general election had been held at the beginning of December 2012, it would have been won by the Smer party, according to a poll carried out by the Median SK polling agency on a sample of 1,146 respondents, the SITA newswire reported.

Smer received 46.5 percent, followed by the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) on 9.4 percent, Most-Híd on 8.8 percent (up 3.2 percentage points from the previous Median poll in later October and early November), Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) on 7.6 percent, the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) on 6.5 percent, and Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) on 6 percent.

The Party of the Hungarian Community (SMK) and the Slovak National Party (SNS) scored 3.6 percent and 3.5 percent, respectively, hence not enough to win seats in parliament, SITA wrote.
