Radoslav Procházka, an MP for the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH), announced that he will never run again in any election on the party’s slate. He stated this after a session of the KDH Council, whose members had refused to discuss the changes in the party that Procházka wants to institute within his Alfa platform, the SITA newswire reported on January 26.
“I came to the movement three years ago and since the very beginning I was trying to change it into dynamic and modern party [that] understands its role as fulfilling the real needs of this state and its inhabitants,” said Procházka as quoted by SITA, adding that his first aim, which he failed to achieve, was to change the inner relations and to strengthen the position of regions and the party’s ordinary members.
“I was struggling for fundamental programme reform for the movement and I always received the same answer, in the style of KDH’s tradition – not today, it is too fast,” Procházka added.
The MP said that he is not gearing up to leave the party immediately and that he will announce all his future moves in due time after the next parliamentary session, which starts on January 29, the TASR newswire wrote.
Ján Figeľ, chair of the KDH party, said after the session of the party’s council that proposals and recommendations from Procházka’s Alfa platform will be included in the proposal for the party’s programme for the next ten years.
“After my speech, the KDH Council agreed that items tabled by the Alfa platform will be used in the drafting of the party programme vision,” Figeľ told TASR. “Hence, I was surprised by the stance of Mr Procházka, who announced that he will not ever run for any election on the KDH party slate. We maintain that he has his place in KDH.”
Meanwhile, the Alfa platform has become a registered civil association which will prepare solutions for state and create a space for “networking the new generation of experts”, SITA wrote.
