ON AVERAGE, Slovak companies get 3.9 years out of their servers, while the most popular brand, with a 40-percent market share, is HP. IBM, with an almost 30-percent share, is the second most popular brand, followed by Dell with 25 percent. About one third of respondents plan to invest in servers with a median investment of €15,000 in 2013. These are the findings of a market survey of IT infrastructure conducted by TEMPEST and IBM, the TASR newswire wrote on January 7.

The average period of use of data storage devices is 3.6 years. Two-thirds of IT managers have at their disposal storage capacity of up to 10 terabytes (TB), 22 percent up to 100 TB and 5 percent more than 100 TB. HP is the most popular brand with 40 percent, followed by IBM with almost 20 percent, Dell with 12 percent and EMC with 7 percent. More than one quarter of respondents (26 percent) plan to invest in storage this year, with the median investment being €40,000.
