Žitňanská and Beblavý will tour the regions
18 Feb 2013 Flash News
MPs for the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) Lucia Žitňanská and Miroslav Beblavý launched a project called “We Create Slovakia” within which they are planning a series of discussions that will take place all over Slovakia. The two politicians say they are searching for new ways, outside the various political parties, to resolve the current political situation in the country, the Sme daily reported on February 16.
“There are many questions to which we have to find the answer,” reads the invitation to the discussions. “The high rate of distrust in society and distrust in politicians also demands an answer.”
Žitňanská and Beblavý will invite the personalities for whom “partisan soil is not attractive”. Their ambition will be to persuade people whose potential is not being utilised. If their topics earn wider support of the public then the political parties will have to react, Žitňanská added.
The whole event will be prepared without the SDKÚ, Sme reported.
“It is a political, but not a partisan project of the future image of Slovakia,” Žitňanská told Sme, adding that neither she nor Beblavý know whether the discussions will result in their departure from the party.
Most-Híd’s MP Andrej Hrnčiar has also joined the MPs’ initiative. SDKÚ deputy chairman Ivan Štefanec does not think that the initiative might lead to a new platform or even result in splitting the party.
