Slovakia is not represented in the EU's EUTM training mission to Mali for the time being, although it is ready to send experts within further rotations, Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák told the TASR newswire after a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday, February 18.

"Slovakia isn't represented in this mission because the military skills that we offered were already occupied and there was no interest in them," said Lajčák. Although Slovakia is not involved in the military training mission for now, it is taking part in humanitarian aid to the country by allocating €20,000, said the minister.

EUTM is tasked with assisting Mali's military in training to be able to face attempts aimed at territorial dismemberment of the country and attacks against its constitutional order that have emerged from militant Islamists.
