The National Highway Company (NDS) announced tenders for five highway- and dual-carriageway sections totalling 44.3 kilometres, mostly connected to the major arteries R2, D1 and D3, the TASR newswire learned from Transport, Construction and Regional Development Ministry spokesman Martin Kóňa on Monday, March 4.
Co-funded from Brussels' Transport to Emerge from Transparent Tender Operational Programme, the total cost is estimated at more than €1.2 billion. The road sections are D1 Hričovské Podhradie-Lietavská Lúčka, D3 Žilina (Strážov)-Žilina (Brodno), R2 Ruskovce-Pravotice, R2 Zvolen, východ-Pstruša and R2 Pstruša-Kriváň.
"The announcement of tenders on these sections represents a product of our hard work on the preparation of the European fund projects in the past year. Their completion will not only improve the transport infrastructure of Slovakia but also provide jobs for people in the regions during the construction process," said Transport Minister Ján Počiatek. Currently, there are tenders on more than 85 kilometres of roads in Slovakia, with another 65 kilometres under construction.
