VISEGRAD Group (V4) countries should stick together in addressing current issues, particularly those economic in nature. This, according to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, was the core message from a summit of V4 leaders held in Warsaw on March 6, the TASR newswire reported. It was also attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande.
The V4 countries stood by each other while advancing their objectives during talks on the EU’s 2014-20 financial framework, Fico said.
The countries were successful in enforcing their priorities in the multiannual budget, especially when it came to bridging regional gaps, Fico added.
“We have to stick together also in bringing MEPs around in order to make them realise that the brittle agreement on the 2014-20 EU budget is the result of incredibly difficult compromises, and it is the best that the European Council can offer to the European Parliament,” Fico said, as quoted by TASR.
