TENDERS for five highway and dual carriageway sections totalling 44.3 kilometres, mostly connected to the major R2, D1 and D3 arteries, were opened by the National Highway Company (NDS) in early March.
The road sections are the D1 Hričovské Podhradie-Lietavská Lúčka, D3 Žilina (Strážov)-Žilina (Brodno), R2 Ruskovce-Pravotice, R2 Zvolen, východ-Pstruša and R2 Pstruša-Kriváň, the TASR newswire reported.
“The announcement of tenders on these sections represents a product of our hard work on the preparation of the European fund projects in the past year,” Transport Minister Ján Počiatek said, as quoted by TASR. “Their completion will not only improve the transport infrastructure of Slovakia but also provide jobs for people in the regions during the construction process.”
Currently, contracts are being tendered for more than 85 kilometres of roads in Slovakia; another 65 kilomet-res are under construction.
