Average yearly harmonised inflation, measured by means of the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, accounted for 3.5 percent year-on-year during the 12-month period between March 2012 and February 2013, while falling 0.1 percentage points on a monthly basis, the Slovak Statistics Office (ŠÚ) announced on Friday, March 15.

Year-on-year EU harmonised inflation reached 2.2 percent in February. The month-on-month developments were affected by lower prices in clothing and footwear (-0.04 percentage points), in food and non-alcoholic beverages and in furniture, household equipment and ordinary household maintenance (both -0.01 percentage points). Conversely, further influences were due to consumer prices in education, in recreation and culture and in miscellaneous goods and services - up 0.01 percentage points in all three categories.
