6 Aug 2013 Flash News
The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) has issued the highest - third-level - heat warning for Wednesday, August 7, in the southern areas of western and central Slovakia, including Bratislava, the TASR newswire learned.
According to the SHMÚ, temperatures may reach between 35-39 degrees Celsius in these areas. SHMÚ also warned that such high temperatures are rare even in summer and that they can place an excessive burden on certain individuals.
A second-degree warning (33-36° Celsius) will be in place for the remainder of Slovakia, apart from the northern areas, such as Orava and the High Tatra mountain range, where only a first-degree warning (30-33 degrees Celsius) will be in place.
