Travellers on holidays booked via Best Choice agency back in Slovakia
8 Aug 2013 Flash News
All 149 travellers who embarked on vacations booked through Best Choice, the travel agency that declared bankruptcy on August 2, are back in Slovakia, a company spokesperson said on Wednesday, August 7.
“The last two passengers from Egypt arrived today at Budapest airport,” confirmed Erika Barkolová, marketing manager of Kooperativa, the insurance agency that covered Best Choice against bankruptcy. Kooperativa will also refund the accommodation and flight tickets to tourists who were forced out of their hotels. “We will also refund the unspent portion of their vacation,” added Barkolová for the TASR newswire.
The travel agency was insured for €2.5 million. Kooperativa therefore estimates that all travellers will get full compensation for their untimely return from vacation. As a reason for declaring bankruptcy, Best Choice stated secondary insolvency. It had operated on the Slovak market since 2005 and focused primarily on holiday resorts in Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey.
