Czech-Slovak consortium to reconstruct Bratislava Old Bridge
8 Aug 2013 Flash News
The association of Czech and Slovak construction companies called MHD-Starý most/Public Transport-Old Bridge shall reconstruct the Old Bridge in Bratislava and build a new tram line connecting the Šafárikovo Square with Bosákova Street in the Petržalka borough on the other bank of the Danube.
The company Eurovia SK is the winner of the tender announced by the city for the reconstruction of the Old Bridge. Eurovia SK, a.s. Košice submitted the lowest bid of €68.816 million, the Sme daily wrote in its Thursday, August 8, issue. The company must reconstruct the bridge before 2015, otherwise the capital will lose the EU-funds earmarked for the project.
“Now the approval for the tender’s results is awaited, and then the contract should be signed,” Eurovia spokeswoman Simona Tančáková told SITA.
The association, also consisting of companies Eurovia CS a SMP CZ, fulfilled the conditions and had the lowest bid. Moreover, the reconstruction of the bridge and construction of tram track should take only 22 months, instead of the original 24. Some 85 percent of the expenses should be re-funded by the EU’s Cohesion Fund. After the project is completed, trams will return to Petržalka for the first time in more than 50 years.
