Travel agencies cancel some holidays to Egypt
16 Aug 2013 Flash News
Some travel agencies in Slovakia have cancelled trips to Egypt because of the current political violence in the country.
“Because of the prevailing situation and hitherto developments, we have decided to suspend all flights to Egyptian destinations until September 8,” said Mária Gallová from Ruefa Reisen, as quoted by the TASR newswire. All tourists currently on holiday in Egypt are due to come back by the end of the week.
Eleonóra Fedorová, head of Satur travel agency, said they too cancelled trips as the travel agency cannot guarantee undisturbed holiday to its clients, the Sme daily reported.
Other travel agencies, like Satur and Koala Tours, are offering the tourists who have already booked a holiday in Egypt other destinations from their portfolio or a refund. If tourists decide to travel to Egypt nonetheless, the agencies warn them that it would be at their own risk.
“If one of our carriers offers flights to Egypt, we will be able to transport our tourists to the country,” said Gallová.
Other agencies continue to offer Egyptian holidays, although they are monitoring the situation.
“We are ready to cancel holidays and transport tourists back if the situation gets worse,” Silvia Ladvenicová of Kartago Tours told TASR.
Linda Lipovská, who serves as a delegate in Hurghada holiday resort, told Sme that the fights do not affect the destination, and that the situation in the city is calm, all restaurants and shops are open and that the tourists can walk freely on the streets. She added that one incident occurred in an old part of the city which the visitors do not visit, as reported by Sme.
