Unemployment in July decreased to 13.99 percent month-on-month

The rate of registered unemployment in Slovakia dipped to 13.99 percent in July. Compared to the previous month, it declined by 0.26 percentage points, according to the statistics of the Labour, Social Affairs and Family Office (ÚPSVaR).
The unemployment calculated from the total number of job-seekers amounted to 15.22 in July, the TASR newswire reported, quoting the ÚPSVaR statistics on Tuesday, August 20. This means a decline of 0.27 percentage points month-on-month. A total of 410,868 people were jobless in Slovakia last month, which is 7,300 fewer.
All regions registered a month-on-month decline in unemployment, with the biggest recorded in Košice Region. As for districts, 58 reported a smaller registered unemployment rate, while 20 reported growth and one remained unchanged. The biggest unemployment rate was in the Rimavská Sobota district, while Bratislava I had the lowest. At the end of July, there were 5126 more open job positions than in June, TASR quoted the ÚPSVaR statistics. The ÚPSVaR expects stabilised development of unemployment rate, with potential for a mild decrease.
