Construction on new St Michael's Hospital in Bratislava to start next month
29 Aug 2013 Flash News
The construction of a new building for the St Michael's Hospital in Bratislava should begin next month, in a project overseen by the Interior Ministry. A construction permit was issued in the first half of August and will enter into force in September. The new hospital should occupy a modern eight-floor building with 110 beds on Cintorínska Street in Old Town. Construction should take two years.
“Last year we reported more than 4,000 hospitalisations; and that number should gradually increase in the new hospital," the Interior Ministry informed the SITA newswire. According to preliminary estimates, the project will cost €49.7 million. Two-thirds of this sum is earmarked for the construction of the building, the rest will be used to equip the new premises. "The total cost will not be known until after the contract is signed with the construction contractor and with the supplier of the equipment for hospital," said Interior Ministry officials as quoted by SITA.
