Nominal wages rose in July, most in sales and vehicle repair sectors

The average nominal salaries in July 2013 increased most year-on-year in the sale and repair of motor vehicles – by 7.2 percent to €801 per month, the Slovak Statistics Office (ŠÚ) announced.
Other y-o-y increases in nominal salaries in July were: in industry by 6 percent to €900, in information and communications by 5.4 percent to €1,745, in accommodation by 3.3 percent to €588, in wholesale by 2.9 percent to €781, in bars and restaurants by 2.8 percent to €373, in transport and warehousing by 2.1 percent to €768, in selected market services by 2.1 percent to €826, in retail by 1.1 percent to €565, and in construction by 0.3 percent to €633.
Over the first seven months of the year, real monthly salaries rose in the sale and repair of motor vehicle, 3.5 percent; in industry, 2.4 percent; in accommodation, 1.2 percent; in bars and restaurants, 0.7 percent; and in selected market services, 1.3 percent. Real salaries fell between January-July in construction, 1.3 percent; in information and communications, 0.6 percent; in retail, 0.5 percent; in transport and warehousing, 0.4 percent; and in wholesale, 0.3 percent.
