Partizánske launches Book for You project
17 Sep 2013 Compiled by Zuzana Vilikovská Regional News
THE TOWN of Partizánske launched a project called Book for You (Kniha pre teba) in August, which brings an improvised library next to the Youth Information Centre in the House of Services Alfa. The library will be free of charge and open 24/7.
“Anyone who comes can donate a book, borrow a book, bring it back – or leave it at home,” mayor Jozef Božík told the SITA newswire. “We want to create conditions to read for anyone who wishes to read.”
The library’s collection is not focused on any specific genre, as locals can bring or take children’s books, fiction, poetry, but also non-fiction. “Genre diversity may not be the same as in the town library, but on the other hand, the project could attract those who are reluctant to stick to deadlines.”
If the idea proves successful, a similar project is planned for next year; the town hall wants to bring books to the local Dúha lido, in a parallel project called Čítajúce kúpalisko – Reading Lido, which will also offer newspapers and magazines.
