Unemployment rate down slightly to 13.7 percent in August

Compared to July, the unemployment rate in Slovakia in August fell by 0.29
At the end of last month, labour offices registered 369,600 unemployed people who can start working immediately, Marián Valentovič, director of the Central Labour, Social Affairs, and Family Office told the SITA newswire. Compared to the end of July, that number shrank by almost 7,800. However, compared with August 2012, the registered unemployment rate last month rose by 0.51 percentage points and the number of registered unemployed came up by nearly 13,200.
The overall number of unemployed, including people on sick leave or graduate internships was 402,200 at the end of August. In month-on-month terms, their number decreased by 8,600. The unemployment rate, dropped by 0.32 percentage points month-on-month to 14.90 percent in August. Compared to August 2012, this represents a 0.16 percent rise.
