DANCE:
THE PRESSBURG Dance Fest enters its second year, featuring a competition and show of Oriental dance that brings together a variety of Slovak and foreign dancers of all styles, including Karolína Idris, Huryia and Sahar from the Czech Republic (US/CZ Bri Hurley); Maria Aya from Greece; Leila from Serbia; Kasia Wronka from Poland; and others. The event takes place in the House of Culture Lúky at Vígľašská 1 in Petržalka, Bratislava, on the weekend of September 27-29, with the gala show on the 28th at 19:00. THEATRE:
“X APARTMENTS in Košice” is the eastern-Slovak version of the theatre project by German director Matthias Lilienthal, in which a guide takes people in pairs on a tour through Košice (one route leads downtown, the other through the Šaca borough) with brief stops in small, private venues to watch dance, opera, drama, music and visual arts performances (14 performances in total) between September 25 and 29. The pieces have been created specifically for Košice by artists from Slovakia, Austria, Poland, Germany, the UK, Australia and Lebanon. More information is available at www.tabacka.sk.
