Bratislava factory produces 250,000th Volkswagen up!

The Bratislava plant for German carmaker Volkswagen has already produced 250,000 Volkswagen up! vehicles, with the landmark car going to a Dutch client.
The Volkswagen up! is produced in Bratislava with 3 or 5 doors, exclusively for European markets and Japan, the company told the TASR newswire. There are also in the cross up!, groove up! and eco up! versions. Its production in Bratislava started in 2011, preceded by an investment of €300 million.
Volkswagen has also launched negotiations with the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava where the study course Automobile Mechatronics should be launched soon, TASR wrote. On September 24, representatives of the carmakers and university debated prospects and possibilities of new bachelor, master and post-graduate courses at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the STU. The goal is to train graduates and give them knowledge from electrical engineering apt for the automotive sector.
