Plan to call for rating taxpayersFocus short
30 Sep 2013 Compiled by Spectator staff Finances and Advisory
THE FINANCE Ministry would like to see taxpayers in Slovakia rated. Its ambition is to prepare revisions to the legislation necessary for the launch of the new evaluation of taxpayers as of the beginning of 2014. However, work on the legislation has lagged behind the planned launch date, the SITA newswire wrote in mid August.
“The introduction of the rating of taxpayers is in the phase of preparation,” the Finance Ministry wrote, as cited by SITA. “This is an innovative instrument and because of this a very comprehensive communication with the expert public is going on.”
The rating of taxpayers should serve as a tool to support voluntary fulfilment of tax duties and increase legal certainty in commercial relations.
“The tax rating should also speak about the financial condition of companies and their abilities to settle their payment obligations,” Finance Minister Peter Kažimír said in late 2012, as cited by SITA.
