Problematic bear shot dead in Tatras
1 Oct 2013 Flash News
A BEAR that had been causing problems in the town of Vysoké Tatry was shot dead by the state-run forestry company, Štátne lesy TANAPu.
“An approximately 150kg female that did not have offspring was shot dead,” forestry company spokesperson Lenka Burdová said, as quoted by the SITA newswire.
The bear was put down after the municipality requested a so-called exception for the shooting of a problematic bear. The Environment Ministry issued the exception, effective as of August, and the forestry company was assigned to carry it out, SITA reported.
This was the only such exception to be issued this year at the request of the town of Vysoké Tatry.
